Are you a CNA that is looking for more skills? Are you interested in drug therapy, safe administration of prescribed medications, knowledge of drug action related to body systems, side effects of medications? Take our TMA class and receive the skill boost to expand you professional arsenal. This 48 hour course includes an overview of metric, apothecary, and household measurement abbreviations, with implications for use with medication administration to prepares you for a profession as a TMA in nursing homes, schools, correctional facilities, or other non-hospital, assisted living facilities for the physically or mentally disabled. Curriculum used has been approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and is compliant with their standards.
The student (not college instructor) needs to set up the shadowing experience at a health care facility. Students must observe for 8 hrs., having two separate sessions, on two different shifts for 4 hrs. each. Students should be observed by TMA's or LPN's administering meds.
Please note: Individuals who wish to work as a TMA in a skilled nursing home or licensed boarding care facility must have completed a Minnesota Department of Health Approved Nursing Assistant program.
