Continuing education provides open enrollment courses, online or classroom-based, in areas of personal enrichment, professional development, workforce, marketing and sales courses and also many self-study courses.
Intermediate Rider Course - # 17-0813CTAC 0810 – PM
If you are comfortable on your own motorcycle or scooter, the 5-hour Intermediate Rider Course will build upon your existing skills and knowledge. Newer motorcyclists, returning riders and experienced motorcyclists can all benefit from this course. The Intermediate Rider Course covers control, finesse, counter steering, corning, swerving and braking. Make the Intermediate Rider Course an annual tune up for your riding skills. Groups or clubs may purchase an entire Intermediate Rider Course for only $300. Passengers may participate for free.

The MN Motorcycle Safety Center recommends that you have at least one year or 1000 miles of riding experience before enrolling in this course. Participants must be at least 16 years old. You must possess a valid driver's license with either a motorcycle endorsement or a motorcycle instruction permit. Riders must be proficient with the basic skills of clutch control, straight-line riding, turning, shifting, and stopping. You must use your own street-legal motorcycle and show current proof of insurance during the first hour of the course. You must wear protective clothing and a DOT approved helmet.
Bring to Class:
You should bring appropriate riding gear for the Skill Test (Range Exercises).  You will need the following items:
  • Motorcycle
  • Proof of Insurance
  • Eye protection
  • Helmet (must be DOT approved)
  • Appropriate Jacket and Pants
  • Long-Sleeve Shirt
  • Gloves and Boots (gloves must be full-fingered, boots must cover the ankle)
  • Rain Gear (the range exercise skill test will be held rain, snow, wind, cold or shine.  Be prepared.  We suggest that you may wish to dress in layers for warmth.)
Rider Coaches are required to dismiss students who do not bring and use the aforementioned protective gear.  There will be no refund for those who do not bring the protective gear.
