"Singing the Music as Soldiers Marched"
#: CBEP   ID: 9154   Section: 070121C19
Description:
Singer Laurie Helmers, accompanied by Carol Engel, performs patriotic songs that are connected to military campaigns or wars throughout America's  245-year history.  This program isn't about the politics or ethics of war; rather, it's about the wide array of emotions such circumstances bring out in humans and the expression of those emotions in music.  In addition to singing, Laurie will share interesting historical information such as why the lyrics of "Yankee Doodle"  include "stuck a feather in his hat and called it macaroni."
