The explorations of the Pacific by Captain James Cook are legendary. Yet, our knowledge of these voyages frequently derives from the exquisite drawings that accompany the narrative. Many of these were made by naturalists on board these vessels of exploration; they were tasked with not only finding and cataloging new plant and animal specimens, but also drawing them. Most of them also captured the people they encountered as well. Join James Ford Bell Library curator Marguerite Ragnow as she shares some of the amazing drawings and the insight into distant cultures they offer.
