Description:
Mental Health 101 Series
This 6 part/15-hour series is an introductory review of mental health illness and how to recognize and interact with persons with mental health conditions in the workplace and other settings.  Learn how to understand and recognize mental health and/or mental health crisis, behavior concerns as well as provide resources for referral as needed.  Each session will include activities and practice responses.  This series can be customized for companies, agencies and educational institutions.
You can register for one or all.  CEU’s available for all healthcare, education and law enforcement fields.

Mike is a Registered Nurse (RN) with a Board Certification in Psychiatric/ Mental Health Nursing (PMH-BC) and has over 15 years’ experience working with individuals with mental health and behavior concerns in a variety of settings. 

Mental Health 101: 6 Part series
These are interactive session and each session will include activities and practice responses.
Part 1: Biologically Influenced Disorders (2.5 hrs.)
A look into common mental illness of depression, Anxiety, OCD, schizophrenia, Bipolar, and other related conditions. Examination of diagnosis, characteristics like signs/ symptoms, and management including potential interventions
Part 2: Environmental Influenced Disorders (2.5 hrs.)
A look into Conduct disorders like RAD and ODD as well as personality disorders. Examination of diagnosis, characteristics like signs/ symptoms, and management including potential interventions
Part 3: Neurologically Influenced Disorders (2.5 hrs.)
A look into several kinds of Neurodevelopment disorders like ADHD, Autism and Cognitive disorders like Dementia, Delirium. Examination of diagnosis, characteristics like signs/ symptoms, and management including potential interventions
Part 4:  Stress & Sleep Influenced Disorders (2.5 hrs.)
A look into Trauma, Dissociative disorders, PTSD, Insomnia, and related conditions. Examination of diagnosis, characteristics like signs/ symptoms, and management including potential interventions
Part 5: Managing Behavior Challenges/ Crisis (2.5 hrs.) 
A look into challenging behavior by exploring the body’s fight/ flight response as well as the crisis model. Learning therapeutic communication techniques to interact with someone in a crisis.
Part 6: Responding To Traumatic Events (2.5 hrs.)
How to better recognize and respond to someone experiencing a personal or community traumatic events like an abuse, death, accident, or natural disaster.
