Hacking Game Interfaces (ended)
#: 6000008   ID: CECT 0250   Section: 03
Facilitated by Stephanie Boluk (UC Davis) and Patrick Lemieux (UC Davis), this workshop will be an experimental, hands-on, game design camp. Boluk and Lemieux will elaborate on ideas developed in their book Metagaming (U of Minnesota Press, 2018), in which they discuss “alternative histories of play by exploring the strange experiences and unexpected effects that emerge in, on, around, and through videogames.” Participants will create multiplayer game controllers that alter conventional platform gaming experiences. This workshop is intended for community members, undergraduate, graduate students, and faculty members. The workshop will be offered with no-credit, continuing education credit, and 3 credit options, with no prior programming experience necessary. A laptop will be required (computers are available for rental through WSU).
