The Civil Mediation Training is a comprehensive experiential training course that teaches participants to skillfully facilitate conversations between people in conflict in order to assist them in reaching creative, mutually-satisfactory outcomes. This course is designed for professionals who want to learn to mediate, and meets all requirements of both the Minnesota Supreme Court’s Rule 114 Training Guidelines and the Community Dispute Resolution Program Training Requirements for community mediators in Minnesota. Upon completion of this certified course, participants will have the skills to mediate in a wide variety of situations and be eligible for inclusion on the Minnesota Rule 114 Qualified Neutral Civil Roster as well as be eligible to volunteer with community mediation centers throughout Minnesota.
Instructor: R. Jeffrey Ringer - Professor and Chair of the Communication Studies Department at SCSU. Jeff is a Qualified Neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice and has taught mediation for over ten years. He also teaches courses in conflict management, family communication, and alternative forms of third party intervention. He is a volunteer mediator for the Conflict Resolution Center and operates a ballroom dance studio in his free time.
