Description:
Minnesotan Sinclair Lewis was the first American to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. His novels, Main Street, Babbit, and Elmer Gantry are some of the most important in American literary history. After decades of neglect by literary critics and readers, interest in Lewis’s writing has sprung anew, especially with his 1935 novel, It Can’t Happen Here. In this lecture, Taylor Hagood will present Lewis’s life and discuss his works.
