In keeping with the Halloween season, in this lecture Taylor Hagood will explore Frankenstein’s monster from Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel through the monster’s many incarnations in film, most notably the 1931 Universal movie, starring Boris Karloff and directed by James Whale. Drawing on his research in Frankenstein masks and costumes, Hagood will also include a look at the ways the monster has been marketed since the middle of the twentieth century.
