#: CBEP   ID: 9154   Section: 1013222C19
Description:
What does a home reveal about its occupants, and about our shared historical narratives? Join a live virtual conversation about the remarkable history of Longfellow House-Washington's Headquarters National Historic Site in Cambridge, MA. This site bears witness to the history of slavery and emancipation in New England and the early free Black community of Cambridge. It saw George Washington’s development as a leader, was a 19th century hub of literary life and abolitionism, and reveals what some LBGTQ folks experienced over 100 years ago. What stories will resonate with you? We'll examine the process of piecing together stories of some of the lesser-known occupants of this house, their significance, and their relationship to the more famous names affiliated with the site.
