Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT + Regional Entry Level Written Exam)
#: FICT9079    ID: 20233-30    Section: 12.02.2022
Description:

Waiver:
A candidate may waive all the fore-mentioned program components and be eligible to participate in a CPAT test. Such a waiver shall only be acceptable if it is in writing and is made on a wholly knowing and voluntary basis. A waiver will be available at the FINAL CPAT Exam.

During the orientations and practice runs, certified Peer Fitness Trainers, fitness professionals and/or CPAT trained firefighters (proctors) will be present to help all candidates understand the test elements as well as how to improve their physical performance and conditioning prior to taking the test.

Final Test Day:
Candidates must register before the testing day; when the candidate arrives on the day scheduled, you must complete the proper paperwork and forms. In addition, candidates must have a valid photo ID, long pants, and close-toed and heeled shoes. Candidates will then be given an overview of the written and physical exam process.

Written Exam:
Candidates taking the written exam will be assembled in a holding room before testing.  Once testing begins, you will move into a quiet testing room monitored by two “Exam Proctors”. Candidates will be given 2 hours to complete a 100 question written exam, referenced from the Jones & Bartlett Fundamentals Fire Fighter Skills, 4th edition. Textbook available here:
https://www.psglearning.com/catalog/productdetails/9781284144673

Upon completion or the end of the time limit, the candidates will hand in the exam and answer sheet to the Exam Proctor.  The Exam proctors will not leave the testing room until all candidates have submitted their tests.  The Exam proctors will then deliver the written exams directly to the “Test Administrator”.  The Test Administrator will then lock the tests and answer sheets in a secure location to be scored later that day.
Written exam Candidates, once having completed the written test, will move to the CPAT room, and you will have an opportunity to change your clothing and prepare yourself for the physical fitness evaluation.

**NOTE: You must apply to all interested departments before testing day.  .**
