Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an international evidence-based course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This course gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.
What it covers:

  • Mental health risk factors and warning signs
  • Information on depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance use
  • A 5-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health concern or in crisis
  • How to interact with a person in crisis and connect them with appropriate professional help

Virtual - First Aiders will complete a 2-hour, self-paced online course, and then participate in a 6-hour, Instructor-led video conference.
Participants must be 18 years or older per Mental Health First Aid guidelines.
