Description:
This course introduces the concepts of basic human needs, health/illness continuum and basic nursing skills in long term care and the home care environment. Skills are taught in a simulated laboratory setting utilizing demonstration and role-playing. Students completing the full course will be eligible to take the examination for placement on the Minnesota Department of Health Nursing Assistant Registry. This course meets the objectives of the Federal Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) and Minnesota Department of Health Requirements as detailed for educating the nursing assistant. The Minnesota Department of Health has temporarily suspended the criminal background check requirement for participation in this class. Please note that a criminal background check is often an employment requirement at long-term care facilities in MN.
