The two parts of the MN State Registry Test for Nursing Assistants - the Knowledge Test and the Skills Test - are administered through South Central College - Customized Workforce Education. You must register for and pass both tests in order to be certified and listed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.
TMU Access
If you went through a NA training program, verify with your instructor that you are marked complete in TMU at least 5 business days before the test so that we can scheduled you for the test event.
- If we cannot schedule you in TMU at least 5 business days prior to the test, you will be considered a No Show and required to pay the full test fee to re-register.
If you are a challenge/test-out candidate, please indicate this when you register and you will be set up with a TMU login approximately 5 days before the test.

During the Skills Test, you will be asked to demonstrate a set of randomly selected MDH-approved nurse aid skill tasks for an RN observer. You will find a complete list of skill tasks in the Minnesota candidate handbook at hdmaster.com. You will be allowed a maximum of thirty (30) minutes to complete your three or four tasks.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance
If you have a qualified disability or limitation, you may request special accommodations for examination. Accommodations must be approved by D&SDT-Headmaster in advance of examination. The Request for Accommodations Form 1404MN-ADA can be found on D&SDT-Headmaster’s Minnesota webpage. This form must be submitted to D&SDT-Headmaster with required documentation listed on the second page of the ADA application in order to be reviewed for a special accommodation. Please allow additional time for your request to be approved. You will receive an email with your approved accommodations when review is completed.
