Nursing Assistant Knowledge Test (Virtual)

Description:

The two parts of the MN State Registry Test for Nursing Assistants - the Knowledge Test and the Skills Test - are administered through South Central College - Customized Workforce Education. You must register for and pass both tests in order to be certified and listed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.

TMU© Access
If you went through a NA training program, verify with your instructor that you are marked complete in TMU© at least 5 business days before the test so that we can schedule you for the test event.

  • If we cannot schedule you in TMU© at least 5 business days prior to the test, you will be considered a No Show and required to pay the full test fee to re-register.
If you are a challenge/test-out candidate, please indicate this when you register and you will be set up with a TMU© login approximately 5 days before the test.

The Knowledge Test consists of 70 multiple-choice questions in English.  You will have a maximum of 2 hours to complete the test.  An Oral/Audio test option is also available, which candidates must select in their TMU© profile prior to testing.  You will take the virtual Knowledge Test from your own home or other distraction-free location of your choosing.  Do not come to campus for this test.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance
If you have a qualified disability or limitation, you may request special accommodations for examination. Accommodations must be approved by D&SDT-Headmaster in advance of examination. The Request for Accommodations Form 1404MN-ADA can be found on D&SDT-Headmaster’s Minnesota webpage. This form must be submitted to D&SDT-Headmaster with required documentation listed on the second page of the ADA application in order to be reviewed for a special accommodation. Please allow additional time for your request to be approved. You will receive an email with your approved accommodations when review is completed. Virtual Knowledge Test Candidate Requirements
Candidates must have:
  • An updated version of Google Chrome as your Internet browser.
    • Internet Explorer is not supported.
  • A reliable Internet (Wi-Fi) connection.
  • A personal computer/tablet/laptop to log into TMU© (https://mn.tmutest.com/) to access the knowledge test.
  • Your TMU© Email or Username and Password to take the virtual Knowledge test.
    • If you have any issues accessing TMU©, please call D&SDT-Headmaster for assistance at (800) 393-8664.
  • A smartphone to access the ‘facetime app’ that you will need to have downloaded.
    • D&SDT-Headmaster will provide you information of the ‘facetime app’ you will need before the test date.
    • The night before your scheduled virtual knowledge exam, D&SDT-Headmaster will email and text (if you listed a text capable phone number in your TMU© record) you a reminder with the password protected link to join the test event. MAKE SURE YOU ARE CHECKING YOUR EMAILS AND TEXT MESSAGES!
  • A distraction and interruption free area of your home, etc., where you will be testing.
Identification
You must BRING ONE FORM OF IDENTIFICATION that meets the following MANDATORY requirements: US GOVERNMENT ISSUED, NON-EXPIRED, SIGNED, PHOTO-BEARING ID.

Examples of MANDATORY, US GOVERNMENT, NON-EXPIRED, SIGNED, PHOTO-BEARING IDs are: Driver’s License, US Passport, Work Authorization Card, Alien Registration Card, Military or Tribal IDs (that meet all requirements).

*EXCEPTION: If you do not have a current, official US government issued identification form, then you must bring two (2) forms of CURRENT (not expired), OFFICIAL, SIGNATURE BEARING identification with matching names on both IDs. One of the two forms must be PHOTO-BEARING (photo copies will not be accepted). Examples of proper identification, with matching names, include CURRENT (non-expired):
  • School ID Card with Photograph
  • Signed Voter Registration Card
  • Signed Credit/Debit (Bank) Card
  • Signed Social Security Card
Please login to your Headmaster/TMU© account before the date of your test and make sure that your name on your official form of ID matches exactly what is in your Headmaster/TMU© profile.  If they do not match you WILL NOT be allowed to test.  Please make any corrections needed.
