This class is designed to provide the education necessary to acquire a Special, 2nd Class, 1st Class and/or Chief High or Low Pressure Engineers License. It is for entry level and/or experienced boiler operators who need to obtain/upgrade their licensure. Upon completion of this course, you will have the knowledge to take a Minnesota Pressure Boiler Operators exam.
Low-pressure boiler means a boiler operating at a steam or other vapor pressure of 15 psig or less, or a water or other liquid boiler in which the pressure does not exceed 160 psig and the temperature does not exceed 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
High-pressure boiler means a boiler operating at a steam or other vapor pressure of over 15 psig, or a water or other liquid boiler in which the pressure exceeds 160 psig and the temperature exceeds 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
This continuing education class is designed for:
- entry level or experienced boiler operators
- operators who need to upgrade their license
- managers who need to gain a working knowledge of high pressure stationary boiler operations and maintenance (under 15 pounds per square inch steam /250 degrees 160 PSI hot water)
- industrial and facility maintenance personnel
- manufacturing plant and facility managers
Course discussion will include:
- Understanding thermodynamics, high pressure boiler system types
- Knowing safety devices, instrumentation and controls
- Distinguishing steam systems, condensate systems, and feedwater systems
- Comprehending combustion theory and systems
