Those who have completed Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certification are eligible to become instructors.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor Certification results from a 3-day virtual training that presents the MHFA course and provides in-depth instruction on facilitating the curriculum. The training includes self-paced pre-work, a written exam and a presentation that evaluates each candidate’s ability to present the MHFA course.

TTT Instructor Certification includes:
  • Facilitation from two Nationally Certified MHFA Trainers 
  • Program materials and teaching kit 
  • MHFA Instructor Certification which includes the ability to teach all modes of delivery upon completing required training: in-person and the blended option (part self-paced online, part in-person or virtual).
  • Continuing Education Units (CEUs) verified through Winona State University – 18 Continuing Education Contact Hours
  • Digital Badge is awarded through Winona State University for completion of all Certificate requirements
  • 1st Course Co-Trainer Match – WSU has a network of Certified MHFA Instructors and will match you with a seasoned MHFA Instructor to shadow and/or co-teach your first course.
  • Implementation Services and Coaching Support (detailed below)
Implementation Services and Coaching Support 

Investing in Mental Health First Aid: Train-the-Trainer (TTT) is also inclusive of bringing certified instructors into the national network after certification, setting them up in MHFA Connect (our learning management system), and providing ongoing direct support for certified Instructors who maintain their certification. This ongoing direct support includes implementation services for your new Instructors so that they are prepared to start teaching. 

Prerequisite:  Trainer Candidates must have completed Adult MHFA Certification within the last 3 years (recommended within the last year).

Train-the-Trainer Investment including New Instructor Onboarding & Implementation: *$2,895 per person   *This pricing is dependent upon having a minimum of 10 people participate.  The cohort of 10 can be comprised of individuals from the same, or various organizations.
