Description:
This course prepares workers for tasks in welding technology. It provides comprehensive technical content in welding applications. It describes both equipment and supplies used in the trade and explains both their function and operation. Opportunities in the trade are also described as well as the standards of the industry. It describes fundamental safety concerns, specific welding and cutting practices and related topics such as math, blueprint reading, testing, inspection and weld design.

Course Objectives:
  • Describe basic welding processes, skills and safety
  • Explain shielded metal arc welding equipment, setup and operations of metal plate
  • Describe flame, plasma arc and related cutting and gouging practices
  • Describe gas metal, flux corded, and gas tungsten arc welding processes
  • Apply related welding practices and requirements
  • Describe oxyfuel cutting and welding, brazing, braze welding and soldering

This course includes the textbook, Welding Principles and Design, as well as learning guide and exams.
