#: CBEP    ID: 9154    Section: 060624
Description:
D-Day, the invasion of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944, is the beginning of Operation Overlord. The Western Allies will launch the largest amphibious invasion in history. This is an effort to liberate mainland Europe from Hitler’s Nazi occupation during World War II. Historian Jim Gibbons will present the story of D-Day and show you the beginnings of what led up to this invasion.  Allied timing had to be precise on everything, including the month, moon, tides of the ocean, and weather, because the fate of the world was in the balance.
