Next Generation Nursing Assistant Train, Test, Work

Your healthcare career starts here! This Nursing Assistant course is approved by the Minnesota Department of Health. Learn basic nursing skills including how to take vital signs, provide personal care and mobility assistance. Become prepared to work in nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities and home care agencies. Be guided by a team of registered nurses who care about your success! 

Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to take the Nursing Assistant Competency Evaluation to be placed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry. 

Student Enrollment Options
This course is included in the Next Generation Nursing Assistant - Train, Test, Work initiative. For accepted Next Generation Nursing Assistant - Train, Test, Work students, this course and registry testing are available tuition-free thanks to State of Minnesota finding to help with the nursing assistant workforce shortage. Participants are required to work as a nursing assistant after training completion.

You will be contacted at least two weeks prior to class start by a member of the Minnesota State Distance Minnesota Team to verify training eligibility and discuss class and employment expectations. Individuals unable to meet the training eligibility may be canceled from the class and asked to start at another date when they become eligible. Please know that this is a commitment to not only train and pass the test, but also to work in the field as a nursing assistant.  
 
After the training eligibility verification, the next step will be to attend orientation. Please review the orientation details in this email.

Class Requirements:
Mandatory Survey: Distance MN will be reaching out to registrants to complete a brief survey. This survey will determine the eligibility of potential nursing students. 

Attendance is mandatory. 

Required In-person Orientation (please bring your identification and laptop or tablet): 5/7/24 at Pine Technical & Community College 3pm-5pm, Customized Training Solutions Building (on the corner of Hillside and Main streets in Pine City, directly across the street from Blaze Credit Union 585 Hillside Ave, Pine City, MN 55063). 

Required In-person Classroom Sessions: 5/14/24, 5/15/24, 5/16/24, 5/21/24, 5/22/24, 5/23/24, 5/28/24, 5/29/24, 5/30/24, 6/4/24, 6/5/24, 6/6/24, 6/11/24, 6/12/24, 6/13/24, 6/18/24, 6/19/24, 6/20/24, 6/25/24, 6/26/24, 6/27/24  4:30pm - 7:30pm at Pine Technical & Community College 900 Fourth Street SE, Pine City, MN 55063, Main Campus Building, Room 150

Required in-person Lab Sessions: Saturday 6/22/24 & Sunday 6/23/24 8:00am - 4:30pm, Main Campus Building Room 150

Testing Dates: 6/29/24 & 6/30/24 8am - 5pm. Students will be assigned a specific testing time within the 8am-5pm window.

Testing Location & Instructions: Pine Technical & Community College, 900 Fourth Street SE Pine City, MN 55063 Room 150. Testing instructions will be relayed to students prior to testing.
