Basic Life Support Instructor - Initial (BLS-I)

Description:
The AHA BLS instructor Course is designed to prepare candidates to teach AHA Instructor-led and blended learning BLS Provider courses. It educates instructor candidates on how to use AHA teaching materials, ensures that students meet learning objectives, offers coaching skills and performance evaluation and how to follow AHA course policies. 

BLS Instructor candidates must have 5 years of Healthcare and/or EMS field experience to take this course. 
Bring to Class:
Class is located in the PTCC Customized Training Solutions Building on campus. The building is located on the corners of Hillside and Main streets in Pine City, MN; directly across the street from Blaze Credit Union.

Course Cancelation Policy: For students requesting a cancelation, a full refund will be granted 5 working days before the start of a class. No refund will be made after that.

Steps to becoming certified: 
Part One: Must be completed prior to class:
  • Our Campus Policy is candidates must have 5 years healthcare and/or EMS field experience to take this course. 
  • The instructor candidate must have a current AHA BLS Provider CPR Certification. Candidates must bring this to the hands-on class. 
  • Candidates must complete the AHA BLS Instructor Essentials Online course and bring proof of completion to class ($40.00). https://shopcpr.heart.org/bls-instructor-essentials-online
  • Candidates will be emailed the Instructor Essentials Workbook upon registration. Candidates are required to read the material and bring it to class. 
  • Candidates must register on the www.AHAInstructorNetwork.org.
  • Candidates must make arrangements with the campus to obtain their instructor manual. Please email dianna.abrahamsen@pine.edu.to request your manual. 
Part Two: Classroom Training
  • Complete the BLS Instructor Course at Pine Technical & Community College. 
  • Candidate must be monitored teaching their 1st CPR class within 6 months of completing their hands-on session. 
  • Dues are $50 to join initially and every 2 years when you renew
