Pilot-Escort Driver Certification W-E -- Eden Prairie

Description:
Effective January 2, 2014 the State of Minnesota mandates that pilot/escort drivers escorting over dimensional loads in the state be trained and hold a current Minnesota Department of Public Safety Certification. This 8 hour certification training for civilian pilot/escort drivers is offered through Customized Training Services. Classes are offered as open enrollment classes throughout the state and as contract classes with individual companies or organizations.  Advanced registration for the classes is required.
 

The civilian course curriculum shall include, at a minimum, the following:

(1) 

driver requirements;

(2) 

vehicle requirements;

(3) 

permitting and reading an overdimensional load permit;

(4) 

pilot/escort vehicle positioning and maneuvering;

(5) 

authority while escorting, flagging and traffic control;

(6) 

insurance;

(7) 

pretrip planning and meeting;

(8) 

communication;

(9) 

height pole usage;

(10) 

liability issues;

(11) 

ground clearance;

(12) 

route surveys and how to conduct them;

(13) 

hours of service; and

(14) 

railroad grade crossing safety.

 
Bring to Class:
Students must bring a recent CERTIFIED (no More than 30 days old) driving record to class. Please click the link below for the order form to order a CERTIFIED copy.

·  We ask that any students with the following symptoms, and those who have been exposed to COVID-19, stay home:
     Cough, shortness of breath, or two (2) or more of the following symptoms: temperature/fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or           above, chills, headache, sore throat, muscle pain, and lost of taste or smell.

·       Use hand sanitizer frequently.  If you do not see any, ask an instructor to make it accessible.
·       Avoid personal contact with other students and Instructors. 
·       We ask you to bring your own food and beverages as refreshments will not be provided.
·       Please provide a copy of your current DVR to the instructor.

 

Classes may need to be rescheduled due to changes in Minnesota State, Minnesota State Patrol and college policies.
