Next Generation Nursing Assistant Train, Test, Work - Fergus Falls, MN

Your healthcare career starts here! This Nursing Assistant course is approved by the Minnesota Department of Health. Learn basic nursing skills including how to take vital signs, provide personal cares and mobility assistance. Become prepared to work in nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities and home care agencies. Be guided by a team of registered nurses who care about your success! 
 
This hybrid course includes required classroom instruction and on-campus lab sessions. The cost of a single knowledge test and a single skills test is included in this class if you successfully pass.    
 
Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to take the Nursing Assistant Competency Evaluation to be placed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry. 

Student Enrollment Options 

This course is included in the Next Generation Nursing Assistant – Train, Test, Work initiative. For accepted Next Generation Nursing Assistant – Train, Test, Work students, this course and registry testing are available tuition-free thanks to State of Minnesota funding to help with the nursing assistant workforce shortage. Participants are required to work as a nursing assistant after training completion.

  • Thursday, June 13th | 9 am - 2:30 p
Required Clinical Days:
  • Monday, June 17th | 9 am - 3:00 pm
  • Tuesday, June 18th  | 9 am - 3:00 pm
  • Thursday, June 20th  | 9 am - 2:30 pm

The skills test will take place at the Fergus Falls Campus in S459 or S457. Students eligible to take the skills and knowledge exams will be sent an email with the registration links to register for their test. Students may register for the test date/time that works best for their schedule. It does not matter the order that you take your exams. Below are the test dates and times we have arranged for this course. 

Skills Test Dates:
  • Monday, June 24th @ 9 am
Virtual Knowledge Test Dates/times: (this test takes up to 2 hours and is done ONLINE at home)
  • Tuesday, June 25th (time TBD)

Thank you for registering for the Next Generation Nursing Assistant – Train, Test, Work class.  You will be contacted shortly by a member of the Minnesota State Distance Minnesota Team to discuss the class expectations as well as the employment expectations. There will also be a form for you to sign at the in-person orientation. Please know that this is a commitment to not only train and pass the test, but also to work in the field as a nursing assistant. You will be contacted periodically after the training to learn more about your employment experience.
