Description:
Minnesota State Medication Aide is an introductory course will be held online with in-person skills and test-out. It is designed to train unlicensed personnel to administer medication in a variety of health care settings. The course meets the curriculum standards established by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for the training to become Minnesota State Medication Aide. The course includes a combination of studying at your own pace along with mandatory weekly Zoom meetings. Students should allocate at least 12-15 hours per week to complete assignments and quizzes. Students will study the legal requirements, safety measures, terminology, body systems, and the use of references related to the administration of medication. Students will study actions, dosages, toxic symptoms, and special considerations of commonly prescribed medications. Additionally, Students will understand and practice the administration of oral, topical, optic, ophthalmic and rectal forms of medication in a lab setting. Prerequisites:
  • Students must be 18 years or older to register and they must provide a copy of their current Minnesota CNA license prior to the start of class.
  • Students must have a reliable computer, have access to a printer and scanner, and understand the concept of online courses.
Supplies: Textbook (included in the course cost). Textbook will be mailed to you; please be sure to enter your correct mailing address when you register
D2L Login: A registration confirmation email will be sent to you once you register. The confirmation email will have instructions on logging into the course. It is the student’s responsibility to login prior to the course starting to verify that you can access the system. The online course is instructed through D2L.

REQUIRED ON-CAMPUS ORIENTATION:

Monday June 17, 2024 |  3:00-5:00 PM
Students should bring the laptop, tablet, or other device they plan on using for the online portion of the course to ensure it meets minimum requirements.

ONLINE COURSE SCHEDULE:

Students should expect to complete a minimum of 10 hours of online as indicated on the course schedule each week. This includes online self-paced work and a required 2-hour Zoom session per week. Zoom sessions are offered weekly on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings.

WEEK 2 - June 30- July 1, 2024

Required Zoom Session: Sun 7/7, 10am-12pm OR Mon 7/8, 6:30-8:30pm

WEEK 4 - July 14-15 2024
Required Zoom Session: Sun 7/14, 10am-12pm OR Mon 7/15, 6:30-8:30pm

Refund and Cancelation Policy - Customized Training Solutions (CTS) reserves the right to cancel a class up to two days prior to the class start date, unless otherwise noted. If a class is canceled by CTS a full refund will be issued. If a class must be canceled an email will be sent to all participants and/or 3rd party payers.

Participant must cancel a registration at least 48 hours prior to the start of class to receive a full refund. Cancelations that occur after the 48 hour timeline will not receive a refund, 3rd party payers will be invoiced the entire amount of the class fee.
