Description:
For several thousand years Eskimos, Aleuts, and Indians lived in Alaska. Native families lived a substantial life. Their food, clothing, shelter, tools, and transportation came from the environment. Great care was taken to preserve these natural resources. They lived in harmony with nature. In 1971 The U.S. Congress passed the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. This unique landmark legislation settled Indigenous land claims. It transferred the title to 44 million acres of land to 13 for-profit regional corporations to serve the native people of Alaska.
