SKILLS TEST ONLY
The nursing assistant test is offered to candidates seeking placement on the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Registry. This is required for employment in most nursing homes, hospitals, and other care facilities. The Nursing Assistant Skills Test is 1 part of the 2-part nursing assistant test. You must pass both parts of the nursing assistant test to be certified and placed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.
First Name and Last Name on your REGISTRATION and US GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID MUST MATCH TMU EXACTLY.

Test-Out / Challenge Candidates:
If you have not completed a Minnesota State-approved nurse aide training program within the last two (2) years, you are still eligible to test as a Challenge candidate. To be scheduled for a test event, complete and return the 1101MN Test-Out or Challenge Candidate Application to cts.registration@hennepintech.edu immediately after completing this registration and payment. This information is required for the instructors to create your initial TMU profile. You will still need to complete the demographic profile in TMU to be scheduled into a test event.
You are considered a test-out candidate or challenge candidate and eligible to apply to take the Minnesota Nurse Aide competency exam for certification as a Nurse Aide in Minnesota if you qualify under one of the following:
- If you trained in another country.
- If you have not taken a nurse aide training program.
- If you have not worked as a nurse aide in the last 24 months.
- If you are from another state and do not qualify for reciprocity in Minnesota or are not in current status on transferring Registry.
Bring to Class:
- You must BRING ONE FORM OF IDENTIFICATION that meets the following MANDATORY requirements: US GOVERNMENT ISSUED, NON-EXPIRED, SIGNED, PHOTO-BEARING ID. Examples are*:
- Driver’s License
- State Identification Card
- US Passport
- Work Authorization Card
- Alien Registration Card
- Military or Tribal IDs (that meet all requirements).
- *EXCEPTION: If you do not have a current, official US government issued identification form, then you must bring TWO (2) forms of CURRENT (not expired) Official, Signature Bearing identification with matching names on both IDs. One of the two forms must be PHOTO-BEARING (photo copies will not be accepted). Examples of proper identification, with matching names, include CURRENT ( non-expired):
- School ID card with Photograph
- signed Voter Registration Card
- signed Credit/Debit (Bank) Card
- signed Social Security Card
- First Name and Last Name on your REGISTRATION and US GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID MUST MATCH TMU EXACTLY.
Scrubs are required for testing. Please make sure to wear your scrubs to class.

Cancelation policies for Nursing Assistant Skills Test - Brooklyn Park:
- An administrative fee of $15 will be charged if you reschedule or cancel your registration, regardless of the reason or date.
- If you need to reschedule or cancel your registration, you must email CTS.Registration@hennepintech.edu at least 3 full business days before your test date to receive a refund minus the $15 administrative fee.
- No cancelation refund will be provided if you:
- Arrive to the test late or unprepared,
- Miss the test,
- Register with a name other than your legal name listed on your ID, or
- Do not contact Customized Training Solutions (CTS) at least 3 business days in advance of your test date.
HTC Site Cancelation - While we regret having to do so, it is sometimes necessary to cancel exams with insufficient enrollment or last-minute emergencies. If your exam is canceled by us, we will notify you and a full refund will be processed. Please include your e-mail address, permanent cell phone number and work/daytime phone numbers at the time of registration. All course communication will be sent via e-mail to the e-mail address listed in your account at the time of registration.
