Description:
The Carpentry curriculum helps learners to build general carpentry skills, before moving into advanced topical coverage of framing and finish carpentry, as well as concrete and form carpentry. Topics include:
- Orientation to the Trade
- Building Materials, Fasteners, and Adhesives
- Hand and Power Tools
- Intro to Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Layout
- Floor Systems
- Wall Systems
- Ceiling Joist and Roof Framing
- Intro to Building Envelope Systems
- Basic Stair Layout
Bring to Class:
This course will be held in the Customized Training department on the Willmar Campus of Ridgewater College. Park in Lot D (south of the water tower) and enter through door 10. There will also be on-site time at a local build site near the college.
