Description:
This blended (online and on campus) course will prepare students for both the written and skills portions of the State of Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry exam. Topics covered include: Intro to Healthcare; Basic Human Needs; Communication; Safe and Clean Environment; Vital Signs and Measures; Personal Cares; Activity and Exercise; Food and Fluids; Elimination; Caring for Residents with Special Needs; and Orientation to the Work Environment.
Bring to Class:
This course will meet on Wednesday, January 29 via Zoom, and February 4, 11, 18, 25, March 4, 11, 18 on the Willmar Campus for skills labs.
Additional online coursework is required before each lab session. Students should expect to spend 10-15 hours per week doing online coursework so they don’t fall behind. The online coursework will not be accessible after the course end date.
A few days prior to the start of the class, participants will be emailed Zoom and D2L login information.
Attendance at the Zoom and lab sessions is mandatory, as course completion is based upon number of hours. If you do not attend all lab sessions or complete all of the online coursework, you will not be able to successfully complete the course.
There is no textbook required for the course.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- Students must be comfortable using technology - minimal assistance is available
- Internet access and a computer or tablet is required - a smartphone is not compatible with the online coursework
- Experience working in a facility is highly recommended
- An 8th grade reading level is required to succeed in this course
- Registration and payment for the state NA Registry exam is separate from the course

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Ridgewater College Customized Training reserves the right to cancel a class up to one day prior to the course start date, unless otherwise noted. If a class is cancelled by the college within that time period, a full refund will be issued. If a course must be cancelled, notification will be sent via email to the student and/or 3rd party payer. If you are unable to attend a class you are registered for, a refund will only be issued if notification is given at least 5 business days prior to the start date of the class, unless otherwise specified. In addition, for courses with an online component (such as the Nursing Assistant course), once you have started your online course, you are no longer eligible for a refund.
