This course will help you prepare for the Commercial Driver’s License written instruction permit test along with ELDT theory requirements. This class will be held completely through Zoom. A link will be provided closer to the course date. There is no driving included in this course but there is an opportunity through us for one on one behind the wheel instruction after obtaining the permit.
CDL Requirements:
A commercial driver license (CDL) is required in Minnesota to operate vehicles that weigh more than 26,000 pounds, vehicles that carry more than 15 people including the driver, and vehicles identified as school buses, or carrying hazardous materials.
The process of obtaining a CDL in Minnesota consists of skills tests for the basic CDL and additional tests for endorsements such as school buses, or vehicles with air brakes.
While Minnesota requires a daily pre-trip inspection for commercial vehicles, the pre-inspection CDL test in Minnesota is a partial inspection, consisting of a checklist of major vehicle systems and safety.
* Class A: Any combination of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GWVR) of 26,001 or more pounds, provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
* Class B: Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR.
* Class C: Any single vehicle, or combination of vehicles, that does not meet the definition of Class A or Class B, but is either designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver, or is placarded for hazardous materials

-Copy of Permit from DMV (self pay approx $25-$45)
-DOT Physical (self pay, approx $85, see any provider of your choice (chiropractor/clinic/hospital/occupational medicine department)
-5 panel Drug Screen results (self pay, approx $40, see any provider of your choice)
-First down payment for 8 hours x $150/hr= $1200 with arrangements for future charges after 8 hours is used up.

Must be at least 18 years old if driving in state, 21 years old if going out of state
