Graffiti: A Visual History from Antiquity to the Street Art of Banksy (2 Sessions)
#: CBEP    ID: 9154    Section: 032425
Description:
Since ancient times, graffiti has been used to mark territory, express social and political messages, provide an outlet for artistic ability, and deliver humor—despite being illegal. This two-part class offers a rich visual record of graffiti’s evolution and variations, including contemporary street art by artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Shepard Fairey, JR, and the still anonymous Banksy.  Part 2 of the lecture series will meet on April 28th from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm.
