We recommend the following safety equipment and tools:
- Hard Toe Shoes or Boots (no open-toe shoes allowed at the farm/ranch)
- Safety Glasses
- Gloves (preferably leather)
- Tool Box for Farrier Tools (tools will be distributed on the 2nd day of class at the farm)
- Thermos or Bottle (for drinking water or similar)
NOTE: Course fee includes Farrier Tool Kit, and required textbooks: Principles of Horseshoeing P3, and Elements of Farrier Science
Farrier Tool Kit includes: Farrier Apron, Nippers, Rasp, Rasp Handles, Hoof Knife, Hoof Gage, Dividers, Nailing Hammer, Turning Hammer, Nail Puller, Shoe Puller, Tongs, and Pritchel

Each week there will be three hours of classroom lecture and twelve hours of hands-on lab.

Classroom lectures meet from 9:00 to 12:00 on Mondays at the Central Lakes College Brainerd Campus. Room E203 (enter through Door 6) Classroom lecture dates: 6/2; 6/9; 6/16; 6/23; 6/30; 7/7; 7/14; 7/21

Lab meets from 9:00 to 1:00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Labs will be held at various farms in the area. Location of farm will be discussed first day of class/orientation. Lab dates (Pine River Equine Farm ): 6/3; 6/4; 6/5; 6/10; 6/11; 6/12; 6/17; 6/18; 6/19; 6/24; 6/25; 6/26; 7/8; 7/9; 7/10; 7/15; 7/16; 7/17; 7/22; 7/23; 7/24 is last day of class (combo lab & graduation date)
