This comprehensive course on Gingival Retraction is designed for dental professionals seeking to enhance their skills in effective Gingival management during restorative procedures. Through a combination of theoretical learning and hands-on practice, this course covers essential topics such as mechanical retraction, chemical retraction agents, and advanced techniques for tissue management. Emphasis will be placed on minimizing patient discomfort, reducing bleeding, and ensuring precise margins for successful restoration placement. This course meets the training requirement of the MN Board of Dentistry for Gingival retraction training.

Course Objectives:
  • Understand the purpose and procedure of Gingival retraction.
  • Learn the different Gingival retraction methods, including mechanical, chemical, and rotary techniques.
  • Master the use of retraction cords, hemostatic agents, and other materials to effectively displace Gingival tissue.
  • Develop the skills to manage Gingival retraction with minimal trauma, irritation, and patient discomfort.
  • Apply Gingival retraction techniques in clinical scenarios, including subgingival crown preparations and impression-taking for accurate restorations.
