Description:
This comprehensive mental health training program is designed for aspiring mental health professionals who want to build a solid foundation in the field and for employers seeking a high quality, verifiable training source for new hires that meets the Minnesota Statue 245I.05, subd.3 initial training requirements for non-licensed mental health workers.
The program covers essential topics and offers practical experience, enabling participants to deliver quality care confidently within a mental health setting.

Eligibility
- Participants must have completed high school.
- Program completers must be able to pass a criminal background study to gain employment in the field.
Program Structure
- This 6-week hybrid training program includes 30 hours of training.
- Students will participate in both
- Asynchronous, self-paced and instructor facilitated online learning, and
- Weekly, 1-hour, synchronous online instructor led classroom learning.
- Each module includes 1-2 learning assessment activities and module exam.
- A final exam is administered in week six (6).
- Students must pass all assessments at a rate of 80% or above to fulfill program requirements to earn a Mental Health Worker: 245 Essentials badge.
Minneapolis College faculty have determined that this training program is equivalent to Minneapolis College courses HSER 1002 Multicultural Aspects of Human Services and HSER 1053 Current Issues in Trauma Informed Care; two courses found in the Human Services Diploma and A.S. Degree programs.

SPECIAL NOTICE: You will need Internet connection and an email address. 3-5 days prior to the start of class, you will receive login instructions via email on how to access the course on D2L for coursework and class communications.
ONLINE COURSE SCHEDULE:
Students should expect to spend a minimum of 30 hours to complete course requirements. This includes online self-paced work and a required 1-hour Zoom session per week. Zoom sessions are offered weekly on Sunday mornings or Tuesday evenings.
Course begins Mon 4/28. No zoom session required this week.

WEEK 3
Required Zoom Session: Sun 5/11, 10:00am-11:00pm OR Tues 5/13, 4:00pm-5:00pm
WEEK 4
No weekly zoom session required. Instructor is available to respond to course questions via email.

FINAL EXAM:
The exam will be available from Jun 2 through Jun 8. Students can choose any date within this period to take the exam. Once they begin, they will have 2 hours to complete it.
Refund Policy - You must drop your course registration at least seven (7) business days prior to the start date to receive a refund. You will receive a refund if Minneapolis College cancels your course. If you fail to appear, you or your company will be responsible for full payment regardless.
Cancelation Policy - While we regret having to do so, it is sometimes necessary to cancel courses with insufficient enrollment. If your course is canceled, we will notify you and a refund will be processed. Please include your permanent cell and work numbers as well as an e-mail address at the time of registration.
