Description:
Over 5 days, students will practice the fundamentals of nonfiction writing with an emphasis on writing techniques, interview skills, and story development strategies. This will be (a thousand times) more fun than it sounds. Whether borrowing interview skills from comedy and improv traditions or writing techniques from popular musicians, the week is designed to underscore the importance of fun and imaginative wonder during creative endeavors. Over the week, students will develop, research, and draft a story of their choosing. Those who finish a story during the week will have the opportunity to see it published online and in an upcoming issue of RCTC’s The Echo student newspaper.
Grades: 9-12 including 2025 high school graduates
Requires parent-signed release form, emergency contact information, and photo release form
RCTC reserves the right to cancel or postpone the camp in the event of low enrollment, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. If the camp is canceled, refunds will be issued.
