Description:
In this dynamic 4-hour session, we’ll explore what it means to reimagine mental health practice through a liberatory lens—one that prioritizes cultural humility, collective healing, and relational accountability. Rather than adding more tools, we’ll focus on unlearning the dominant norms (like urgency, individualism, and conflict avoidance) that often hinder equity and connection. Through meaningful dialogue, reflection, and practical strategies, participants will examine how systems of oppression and the current anti-DEI backlash shape counseling spaces, and how “Midwest niceness” and people-pleasing can reinforce silence over justice. Together, we’ll build the mindsets and practices needed to foster community, disrupt harm, and center healing.
