The HSRT is a 50 minute exam (includes account creation) required for Nursing program applicants. This test will be given in the CLC Academic Testing/Tutoring Center, Brainerd Campus, room E400. Door #15 (Southeast Parking Lot) is the closest door to the testing location (
Brainerd Campus Map). It assesses the following reasoning skills, independent of clinical practice skills or health care content knowledge:
- Overall Critical Thinking Skills– Sustained use of critical thinking to form reasoned judgments
- Analysis – Accurate identification of the problem and decision-critical elements
- Inference – Drawing warranted and logical conclusions from reasons and evidence
- Evaluation – Assessing the credibility of claims and the strength of arguments
- Induction – Reasoned judgment in ambiguous, risky, and uncertain contexts
- Deduction – Reasoned judgment in precisely defined, logically rigorous context
- Numeracy – Sustained use of critical thinking skills in quantitative contexts (quantitative reasoning)

- You will have 50 minutes to answer 35 scenario-based questions.
- Tests are scored on a 100-point scale with a corresponding qualitative rating (Superior, Strong, Moderate, Weak, Not Manifested).
- You may take the HSRT-AD up to two times per application cycle. If testing for a second time, you must wait two weeks (14 calendar days) between attempts.
- Exam requests must be made at least two business (working days) in advance of the request date. NO DROP-IN TESTING will be accommodated.
- This appointment request is tentative until the Testing/Tutoring Center has received faculty confirmation and materials needed for the exam.
- Testing accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities by emailing accessibilityservices@clcmm.edu. Contact for special accommodations should be made at least 2 weeks prior to taking the test.

Testing dates can be rescheduled to a different date if space is available. Requests for changes must be made at least five business days before the originally scheduled test date. One testing date change is allowed at no cost. Any additional date changes will incur a $15 fee per change.
