Licensing & Exam Details
This course is intended for exam preparation only. To become licensed, you must pass a written exam administered by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI). Because exam scheduling can take 30–40 days, students are encouraged to apply before the course begins. The process includes submitting an application and paying a $50 fee, which covers both the application and exam. Once DLI issues an application number, you’ll use it to schedule your exam. Exams are typically offered Tuesday through Thursday in St. Paul and periodically in greater Minnesota. Visit the DLI Boiler Licensing page to learn how to apply for your exam. For questions, contact DLI at dli.license@state.mn.us or 651-284-5034.
