There is an urgent and growing need in the U.S. machining and machine tool industry for skilled individuals – operators, engineers, designers and more – in the 30,000 machining companies across America. This bootcamp is available to secondary students age 16 , college students and industry members. This in-person week long bootcamp will provide students hands-on learning in composites, learn about emerging career pathways or enhance existing skills.
The bootcamp will include basics in composites, shop safety, and use of machines. The students will build their own glider, attend industry tours, network and earn certificate of completion and digital badge.
Students will complete online curriculum introducing them to composites where they will earn a Credly digital badge. Attendees will be introduced to several pieces of composite equipment like Carver Press, 3D printers, Mayku Vacuum Form, Oven and more. Students will use this equipment to produce their own glider.
Industry tours with organizations utilizing composites in their manufacturing are planned. Students will be able to network with peers in the class in addition to members of industry. Upon completion of the course, students will earn a certificate of completion.
