Course Overview
This course provides the required two‑year re‑certification training and examination for certified Minnesota Commercial Vehicle Inspectors.
The course is designed for individuals who perform required safety inspections of commercial vehicles. Instruction is provided by an instructor certified by the Minnesota State Patrol.
Who Should Attend
This course is intended for:
- Minnesota intrastate carriers who must have trucks 26,001 pounds gross vehicle weight (GVW) inspected
- Intrastate carriers required to comply with both federal regulations and Minnesota decal and reporting
requirements
- Operators of T‑plated vehicles under 57,000 pounds GVW that must be inspected by a certified mechanic
Completion of this course provides the re‑certification required every two years to continue performing these inspections.
Re‑Certification Timing
- You may re‑certify up to six months after your certification expiration date.
- If your expiration date exceeds six months, you must complete the full certification course.

- You must attend the full class to receive re‑certification.
Schedule Changes
Classes may be rescheduled due to changes in Minnesota State, Minnesota State Patrol, or Hennepin Tech policies. Registered participants will be notified if this occurs.
