Description:
The Water Treatment Plant Operations I course is designed to give the student a complete understanding of developing and maintaining source water supplies. This will include both ground and surface water.
Content will include:
- Legal requirements enforced by the State of MN as written in Safe Drinking Water Act
- Location, design and drilling techniques for groundwater supplies will be determined
- The theory, operation and maintenance of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps...plus a hands-on lab components are included!!
- Watershed best management techniques and well-head protection techniques and existing source water protection programs will be evaluated.
Tours of facilities employing both surface and groundwater will be performed.
