Next Generation Nursing Assistant Training
Next Generation Nursing Assistant Train. Test. Work.
Your healthcare career starts here! This Nursing Assistant course is approved by the Minnesota Department of Health. Learn basic nursing skills including how to take vital signs, provide personal cares and mobility assistance. Become prepared to work in nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities and home care agencies. Be guided by a team of registered nurses who care about your success! This self-paced course includes an online D2L component and required on-campus lab sessions. Access to the internet and a computer is required. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to take the Nursing Assistant Competency Evaluation to be placed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry. Space is limited and the course will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Students interested in this course should add the class to your cart and check out. You will be placed in an approval queue and college staff will reach out to you if there are still openings.

Program Eligibility:
  • Free training is open to all Minnesotans who are 16 or older and able to work in the United States.

Student Enrollment Options
  1. This course is included in the Next Generation Nursing Assistant – Train. Test. Work. initiative. For accepted Next Generation Nursing Assistant – Train. Test. Work. students, this course and registry testing are available tuition-free thanks to State of Minnesota funding to help with the nursing assistant workforce shortage. Participants are required to work as a nursing assistant after training completion.
  2. Individuals currently employed in long-term care and individuals not planning on working as a nursing assistant may also take this non-credit course for $1,615.
