City of St. Cloud Excavator Training
Why Certify?
This training is based on underground construction safety, the City of St. Cloud right-of-way ordinance, and industry standards for electrical, gas, telecommunications, and municipal utilities. Participants will learn to recognize underground safety hazards and how to deal with them in a safe, professional manner. Areas addressed include natural gas and its characteristics, excavation safety, dealing with emergency situations, and common errors in underground work.
Who Needs this Training?
Anyone planning excavations in the City of St. Cloud in Natural Gas Critical Areas shall have attended this training and successfully completed the certification exam.

Recertification is required every two years. Individuals who took the training in 2021 or earlier will need to recertify by attending this training to remain compliant.

  • Characteristics and impacts of natural gas and properties involved in the transmission and distribution system.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Best Practices- hows and whys of utilizing equipment that will make your job easier.
  • Minnesota Office of Pipeline Safety enforcement rules.
  • Gopher State One Call and You.
