Process for Knowledge & Theory Training
- Basic Eligibility
- Be at least 18 or 21 years old (according to State and CDL Class requirements).
- Have a valid Class D or regular driver's license.
- Registration Process
- Register below for CDL Knowledge and Theory - Class A (if you would like to register for Class B, please contact customized.training@ridgewater.edu directly.
- Allow up to 48 hours to receive information on how to access your online training.
- Click on this link and complete the attached: CDL Registration Forms and email to customized.training@ridgewater.edu for processing prior to registering for Behind the Wheel training.
- Pass a driving background check (required for State vehicle use).
- Complete Online Training
- Complete the 11-hour online training with a passing score of 80% or higher.
- Upon completion of online training, please inform customized.training@ridgewater.edu for next steps.
- Participants will also want to review the Minnesota Commercial Driver's Manual (CLICK HERE) prior to taking the MN written CDL permit exam.
Financial Assistance:
Please note that courses offered through Continuing Education and Customized Training are non-credit and not Financial Aid eligible; however, you may seek funding or assistance from an outside source such as a Government Program, Workforce Agency, Employment Center, Employer or apply for a student loan through
