The Minnesota Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation consists of two required components:
✅ Virtual Knowledge Test (online)
✅ Manual Skills Test (in-person)
Candidates must pass both to receive certification and be listed on the Minnesota Nurse Aide Registry. Exams may be taken in any order but must be completed within two years of your first test date.

You may test as a Challenge Candidate if you haven't completed a Minnesota-approved Nurse Aide training program within the last 2 years.
Important Steps:
Notify the testing site that you are a challenge candidate
Complete Form 1101 (Download Here)
Email the completed form immediately after registration and payment to:

Cancel at least 3 business days before your test for a full refund

If you are employed or have been offered a position at a nursing home or boarding care home before your test, the facility must pay for the evaluation (federally required).
If you’re hired by one of these facilities within 12 months of completing the course and exam, you may qualify for full reimbursement of course and exam costs 90 days after hire.
