Family Mediation Training

A comprehensive experiential training course for professionals who want to learn to mediate family disputes and meets the requirements of the Minnesota Supreme Court’s Rule 114 Training Guidelines.

Upon completion of this certified course, participants will have the skills to mediate in family and divorce situations and be eligible for inclusion on the Minnesota Rule 114 Qualified Neutral Family Roster.

The Family Mediation Training will cover: mediation theory and practice, family law; psychological issues of adults and children in divorce; domestic abuse; financial and property issues, and mediator ethics in family cases. Class also includes role plays, coaching and debriefing.

Instructor:  R. Jeffrey Ringer - Professor and Chair of the Communication Studies Department at SCSU.  Jeff is a Qualified Neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice and has taught mediation for over ten years.  He also teaches courses in conflict management, family communication, and alternative forms of third party intervention.  He is a volunteer mediator for the Conflict Resolution Center and operates a ballroom dance studio in his free time.
