Medication Administration Training for School Personnel - Online

This 4 hour online training course will provide school personnel basic knowledge of medication administration in order to safely provide medications to students in the school setting. Successful completion of this online training course will require the participant to view a lecture/slide presentation, handouts, skill demonstration videos, complete a post test, and demonstrate 8 medication administration skills in the presence of a Registered Nurse currently licensed in North Dakota (for ND school districts) or Minnesota (for MN school districts) and identified by the employing school of the course participant. Topics of discussion will include: Individual's authority and role in providing medication Proper medication storage, inventory and disposal Proper techniques for providing medication including, but not limited to, understanding pharmacy labels, standard precautions for infection control, six rights of medication administration, and measuring and dispensing protocols Appropriate documentation of all medication provided and confidentiality requirements Basic medical terminology, abbreviations and symbols related to providing medication Appropriate action if unusual circumstances occur (e.g., medication error, adverse reactions, student refusal, and how and when to seek medical consultation or assistance
Bring to Class:
This class is completed at your own pace, 24 hours a day, as long as you finish within the dates provided.
