Nursing Assistant Knowledge Test - Alexandria

Description:
There are two parts to the Minnesota Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation, the Knowledge Test and the Manual Skills Test. Candidates must pass both parts in order to receive a certificate and be listed on the Minnesota Nurse Aide Registry.

Knowledge Test
The Knowledge Test is an online test which consists of seventy (70) multiple-choice questions in English. Candidates will have a maximum of two (2) hours to complete the test. An Oral/Audio test option is also available, which you must select in your profile in the testing system. See instructions below.

Skills Test
During the Manual Skills Test you will demonstrate a set of randomly selected nurse aide skill tasks for an RN Test Observer. You will find a complete list of skill tasks in the candidate handbook. You will have a maximum of thirty (30) minutes to complete these tasks.

You have three (3) attempts to pass the knowledge and skill test portions of the exam within 24 months from your date of nurse aide training program completion. If you do not complete testing within 24 months from completion of training, you must complete a new Minnesota Department of Health approved training program in order to become eligible to further attempt Minnesota NA examinations.

  • TESTING ATTIRE: Full scrubs and closed-toed shoes. Please refer to the Candidate Handbook on the Minnesota webpage at www.hdmaster.com for a list of other testing attire requirements regarding fingernails, jewelry, tattoos, piercings, etc.
  • IF YOU ARE LATE, DO NOT BRING REQUIRED MANDATORY ID, OR YOU ARE NOT IN MANDATORY TESTING ATTIRE (refer to the Candidate Handbook) YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TEST AND YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED A "NO-SHOW". No shows forfeit their testing fees and must repay to reapply for another test date.
  • IF YOU CANNOT TEST FOR ANY REASON NOTIFY Alexandria Technical and Community College by phone at 320-762-4510 or 888-234-1313.
  • IF YOU NEED TO RESCHEDULE YOUR TEST DATE, YOU MUST RESCHEDULE AT LEAST 3 BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR TEST DATE by emailing or calling ATCC at atcc-customized@alextech.edu  or 320-762-4510.
  • ADA accommodation requests must be submitted with required documentation and approved at least 14 days advance of your test date. Refer to the Candidate Handbook for ADA information.
  • The testing site and testing teams are not responsible for your personal belongings.

NEXT STEPS
After you have registered for the Nursing Assistant Test through ATCC, we will then schedule you into the test event in the TMU website. Once you are scheduled into the test event, you will receive an email notification (and text if you listed a text capable phone number in your TMU profile) confirming your exam date and time (note that this is may not be your exact exam time). You can always see your test date online at the Minnesota TMU webpage, https://mn.tmutest.com, using your Email or Username and Password. If you are unable to sign in with your email, you must call Headmaster for assistance no later than the day before your exam at (800) 393-8664.


We suggest using Google Chrome for your web browser (most compatible with TMU). TMU is where you will find your test results, both knowledge and skills. Skills exam results are typically posted after 7:00 pm in 1-3 business days.

Selecting the Oral/Audio Option for your Knowledge Exam
  1. After completing your registration with ATCC, log in to https://mn.tmutest.com.
    1. If you aren't sure whether you have access, try Forgot Password.
    2. If that doesn't work, verify with your training program site that they have entered you into TMU OR if you're a challenger, contact us at atcc-customized@alextech.edu to enter you in the system.
  2. Click "Your Profile" in TMU
  3. Locate Testing Preferences
  4. Select the "Enable Audio Testing" checkbox
  5. Save Changes
  6. The above must be completed before we schedule you into the test event in TMU. You will then see "Audio Test" next to your name in the test event in TMU.
  7. If choosing this option, please bring your own plug-in headphones to testing.

Please print and display a PARKING PERMIT while parked on campus. If you do not have a printer, a parking permit will be provided for you at check in.

Testing Attire
  • You must be in full clinical attire (scrubs)
  • Wear closed-toed shoes
  • Long hair must be pulled back
  • Note: You will not be admitted for testing if you are not wearing scrubs attire and appropriate shoes. This is considered a "no show" and you will have to pay for another test and date.
What to Bring
MANDATORY ITEMS FOR TESTING:
1) Your TMU login (username and password). Note that your TMU profile must exactly match your ID.
2) A United States (US) Government issued, signed, unexpired Photo Bearing ID.
Examples of the forms of US government issued, photo ID's that are acceptable are:
  • State or other United States Government Issued Driver's License
  • State Identification Card
  • US Passport (Foreign Passport and Passport Cards are not acceptable)
  • Alien Registration Card
  • Tribal Identification Card
  • Work Authorization Card
  • Military Identification
PREPARING FOR THE TEST Refund Policy - If you need to cancel or reschedule your exam, you must call 320-762-4510 at least 3 business days prior to the exam date. Late requests may not be accepted. “No-shows” will not receive a refund. If you fail to appear or have the correct documents, you or your company will be responsible for full payment regardless.

Cancellation Policy - While we regret having to do so, it is sometimes necessary to cancel exams with insufficient enrollment. If your exam is canceled, we will notify you and a refund will be processed. Please include your permanent cell and work numbers as well as an e-mail address at the time of registration.
