Module 1 - Water Distribution System Operator

Description:
This course is designed for the entry level operator. Course will begin with topics related to defining options available for water sources. The importance of the Safe Drinking Water Act and the impacts on public health. Students will learn water industry acronyms and terminology in order to effectively communicate in the field. Course will include an overview of common water treatment technologies. Then the focus will be directed to aspects related to treated water distribution.

Key topic areas include:
  • Maintaining quality thru routine maintenance activities and theoretical concepts related to storage units
  • Hydrants, valves, meters, well houses, cross-connections
  • Installing, inspecting and testing of all systems used in transmission of drinking water
  •  Water quality analysis techniques and application of results
  • Hydraulic concepts relating to pressure and flow will be calculated 
  • Operator safety while in the field will be analyzed.
  • Applicable math concepts
