Minnesota Nurse Aide Competency Exam -
SKILL EXAM
There are two parts to the nurse aide competency examination: a multiple-choice, knowledge test and a skill test. Candidates must pass both parts of the nurse aide competency exam to be identified and listed on the Minnesota Nurse Aide Registry. This testing event is only for the Skill Exam.
Nursing Assistants and Home Health Aides wishing to be placed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
- Successfully complete an approved nursing assistant training and competency evaluation program in Minnesota.
- Test-Out Candidate who does not meet any of the other three eligibility routes. Test Out candidates must fill out this form before registering for a test: Test-Out or Challenge Candidate Application Form 1101 Application (tmutest.com)
Any individual who completed the competency evaluation more than 24 months previously, and has not worked in Minnesota performing nursing-related duties within the past 24 months, must take the approved nursing assistant training and competency evaluation program in order to be eligible for placement and/or renewal on the registry.
Test-out dates may be canceled due to lack of registration.
