Nurse Assistant Skills Test - Pine City

Sample examination questions are provided in the State of Minnesota Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide Candidate Handbook. An Oral Examination may be taken in place of the Written Examination if you have difficulty reading English. The Oral Examination consists of sixty (60) multiple-choice questions. This test provides the certification for the written part of the nursing assistant test to successful candidates.

The Skills Evaluation you will be asked to perform randomly selected nursing assistant skills. You will be rated on these skills by an Evaluator. A complete listing of the skills is in the State of Minnesota Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide Candidate Handbook. This test provides the certification for the skills part of the nursing assistant test to successful candidates.

Please note: you must pass both the knowledge and skills exam to be added to the Nurse Aide Registry.

Please Read this email carefully!

You are registered to participate in the Nursing Assistant Test Out (NATO) exam. The exam is scheduled 8am-5pm. You will receive emails from the Headmaster system (Testing Vendor) with further information and instructions to prepare for test day. Please watch your email for this important communication and complete requested activities as soon as possible.

Please note the email from Headmaster may indicate an alternate time for your exam. This is because the exam is an event for the entire day. You do not need to be present for the entire testing time. You will be assigned a specific time that is unique to you.  You must arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time.

The Skills portion is onsite at Pine Technical and Community College in Room 150. You will be assigned a specific testing time. 

 You will be sent a final email from Pine Technical & Community College confirming your exam date and time. 


Student must bring 1 non-expired forms of government issued ID to the exam - one with a picture and signature. For example, a valid driver's license or passport will suffice. A birth certificate does not qualify as a form of ID.

Students must wear scrubs. 


Course Cancelation Policy: For students requesting a cancelation, a full refund will be granted 48 hours prior to the start of the exam. No refund will be made after that. A full refund will be given on all classes canceled by the school.
